Business Analyst

General Description

This position will be responsible for planning, developing and executing testing tasks to ensure that the developed products meet the design specifications and adhere to the quality expectations. Candidate must be capable of performing QA process for custom developed and packaged software products. This includes unit, functional, system, integration, regression and data conversion testing. Position will also support new features and maintenances development activity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work through the full software development lifecycle with primary focus on testing and documentation activities
• Engage and participate in all aspects of design reviews, test and project plans, resource estimates, and implementation schedules
• Develop, execute, and manage testing project plans, timelines, and dependencies
• Review and interpret business and technical requirements. Create functional and non-functional test cases for all levels within the scope of testing
• Work closely with business and IT lead on planning and executing the user acceptance testing
• Develop and document testing processes and procedures
• Develop test strategies in collaboration with business users, project lead and application developers
• Create, maintain and execute performance, stress and endurance tests
• Develop, build and maintain testing infrastructure
• Track and monitor defects to closure. Analyze the issue to determine if the problem is an application issue, user issue, training issue, data issue or a software defect
• Publish software defect reports, and report on overall software stability at project team meetings
• Communicate issues, testing status in a concise and timely manner
• Install, configure automated testing tools and execute test plans using test tools
• Recommend QA process improvements or corrections throughout the methodology to continuously improve productivity and quality
• Troubleshoot issues to identify root cause and transfer ownership of the issues to appropriate owners and drive complex issues to resolution with no or minimal supervision
• Testing stages/phases might require to work evenings or overnight.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related fields.

Experience:

Two (2) years of experience in software development; programming; developing and executing test scenarios; and developing automated tests and tests frameworks with common commercial testing tools.

Certifications / Licenses:

No certifications or license are needed.

• Strong technical acumen: excellent trouble shooting and debugging skills. Experience participating in all aspects of a full-lifecycle development methodology and related quality concepts and processes. Good technical documentation skills. The ability to put yourself in the shoes of customers, have a grasp of user experience and design with customers, business, and operations teams in mind. Comfortable with complex systems, understanding common software architecture and data integration patterns. Urge and resilience to challenge the status quo and make things better. Love helping engineers, designers, operations experts, and other teams around you do their best work.
• Strong business acumen: ability to understand the needs and concerns of business stakeholders and colleagues and respond promptly and effectively to stakeholder requests. An ability to conduct analysis on work procedures and business results and recommend changes to improve the effectiveness of the business’ management.
• Communication skills: effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to foster trusting relationships with colleagues and clients. Highly develop written and verbal communications skills in English. Presents numerical data effectively. Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent report-writing and presentation skills. Polished in preparing presentations, summaries, and business reports in English for all audiences.
• Analytical skills: Stays focused on main issues, prevents irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with timely completion of assignments. Collects, research and complements data; Synthesizes complex or diverse information. Demonstrates attention to detail; Applies design principles; Generate creative solutions. Strong quantitative, research and analytical skills. Experience with data analysis, persuasive and informative writing, workload management, and process management.
• Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Develops alternative solutions.
• Project Management: Ability to prioritize and work with multiple projects and tasks with minimum supervision; self-direct and task switch between strategic and tactical initiatives regularly. Capacity to achieve results according to plan ensuring the expected quality. Excellent organization capacity to define priorities, meet deadlines, and flexible to change. Knowledge of project coordination, identification of business needs, work plan, budget control, time management, resource allocation, team management and status reports. Must demonstrate leadership, logic, and reasoning skills.
• Operational/Regulations Processes: Knowledge of budget administration, resources allocation, organization’s policies, and regulations. Ability to establish, conduct and track operational processes properly.
• Computer and Technological Skills: Proficient in MSO 365. Experience with software’s, platforms, database, servers, design and programming tools such as: JavaScript, C++, Selenium, SQL, JBOSS, and Visio, among others is desired. Understanding of key design principles. Must have strong software development skills, including experience with programming and design.
