Summary of the role:

We are seeking a full-time SolarCorps Workforce Development Fellow to engage with the workforce team to support GRID's workforce development initiatives. Members are trained and supervised by GRID's workforce development team to provide employability skills and job opportunities in solar to the community. Members will support GRID's solar job training programs through recruitment efforts, facilitating technical and employment readiness workshops, and providing placement support. As these trainees gain education and experience, the members also gain skills in solar installation and program management that will be transferable within the renewable energy, education, and nonprofit industries.

What you will be doing:

Assist in teaching solar and clean energy workshops and labs
Attend local events to promote community awareness of GRID's training programs
Assist in recruiting and selecting trainees, and follow up if needed
Participate in solar installations
Requirements:

Your areas of knowledge and expertise...

Must be 18 years or older
11-month commitment
Excellent communication skills and ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively
Comfortable being part of a team
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
Interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, and helping families and communities in need.
Availability for an in-person Mid-Year weeklong Career Readiness Retreat in California
Must be fluent in English, both spoken and written
Must be able to commute between Juncos and Yabucoa as required
Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to work outdoors, on rooftops, and in extreme temperatures.

It would be great if you also had...

Clean, valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Strong computer skills such as Microsoft Office, Google, Calendaring

Benefits and how we take care of you

Standard Fellowship Compensation:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay of $***** per hour, plus the benefits listed above.
Fellows who complete **** hours with GRID and complete their contracted term of service will be eligible for a $3,000 cash end of term award

Where you will sit & the places you may go...

The ideal candidate will sit in Juncos, Puerto Rico. This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as org-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
