Financial Aid Officer

General Job Description: The Financial Aid Officer is responsible for providing direct support to students and prospective students regarding federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs. The position performs eligibility determinations, reviews and processes financial aid applications, maintains student financial aid records, and ensures compliance with institutional policies and applicable federal and state regulations. The Financial Aid Officer serves as a resource for students and families by providing accurate information regarding financial aid opportunities, requirements, procedures, and deadlines. The position also supports reporting, recordkeeping, audits, and operational activities within the Office of Financial Aid while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and service excellence. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Education, Public Administration, or a related field. One (1) to three (3) years of experience in financial aid, student services, higher education administration, compliance, records management, customer service, or a related field. Experience reviewing applications, verifying documentation, maintaining records, and ensuring accuracy in data processing. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs, regulations, compliance requirements, and Title IV provisions is preferred. Familiarity with federal financial aid information systems such as EDExpress, NSLDS, COD, FAFSA Partner Portal, or similar systems is preferred. Proficiency in the use of computer systems and office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), project management tools, and online meeting platforms. Proficiency in Spanish and English.
